MAKING CHANGES...

How Can I Reach People?

  • Talk to them!
  • Call them!
  • Make announcements in class!
  • Email them!
  • Make flyers—and hand them out!
  • Make posters—and hang them up!
  • Organize Letter-Writing Activities

  • Who is the person in power that can help make changes?
  • Gather your friends and write to them about your issue.
  • Let them know how you feel!
  • A hand-written letter is powerful and can influence changes.
  • E-Mail Alerts

  • Email is a great way to pass information about issues.
  • Tell your friends about your concerns—they may share them!
  • If you find news about your issue while surfing the web, pass it on!
  • Use a message board to share concerns, as well as ways to take action.
  • Build a network of supporters—you email your friends, they email theirs—it grows from there.
  • Use the Media

  • Write letters to the editor and opinion-editors of the local newspaper
  • Write to your school newspaper
  • Call your local radio and TV stations to share your concerns
  • Petition Drive

  • Organize petition drives for things you want to change
  • Get signatures—from school, church, friends, organizations
  • Present these to local officials
  • Call the local press to let them know!

    Meet with Officials

  • Who are your local officials?
  • Write to them!
  • Email them!
  • Call them!
  • Let them know what you care about
  • This includes school officials—anyone you think can help your cause.
  • Fundraising

    • Fundraising raises money AND awareness for your concerns
    • Create T-shirts or buttons to promote your issue
